Markhatin Solikha, Indonesian Maid in Hong Kong: She Instructed The Employer’s Daughter to Help Her Out

Due to the preparation to go to home country (for a while) Markhatin needs all her work done before flying to Indonesia.

So she asked the girl, Kelly, to dry with napkin the washed plates, cups, glasses etc.

Dunno whether it is local-culturally accepted.

Perhaps the convention is :

“Employee is not supposed to instruct anything to employer’s children to help their work”.

Luckily, Markhatin found a wonderful Hong Kong family.

The whole family treats her as part of the family. All of them are so kind beyond imagination.

The mom is like her friend to whom even personal problems can be shared to each other. The daddy is so nice too.

But in daily basis, she is very close to Genevieve.

Nearly the whole week’s days Genevieve goes to bed in Markhatin’s bed room, except one night a week in her parent’s bed room.

There was no jealousy by the parents about it.

Even they’re okay when one day she wore hijab as a child curiosity or also recite “bismillah” (in the name of Allah) etc. For them, religion is not a sensitive issue as happens in many countries including Indonesia.

But everything goes naturally, no compulsory no directing to make the girl do so.

The maid only granted what the girl wanted to do or try things related to Islam.

Even it’s likely the parents are happy with the existence of the maid. They always urged the maid to stay as long as possible.

Because, the atmosphere of the home becomes different when Markhatin is around.

At least the home becomes full of laugh especially when it comes to Genevieve.

“You’re my mother” is said by Genevieve to the Markhatin in various videos so far. While she usually calls the maid “aunty”.

Kelly is more quiet, and amazingly sensitive.

When asked by the maid — for kinda social experiment — “what if I would stop working and return to Indonesia?”

While Genevieve always ‘radically’ said big NO (this girl is indeed so love her maid) Kelly replied: “Go for it. You have family that you have left for a long time. They need you.”

Yes, the maid has worked for the family since before Genevieve was born.

That’s the story typical happening to Indonesian migrant workers: They have to survive and then earn living overseas because of scarse opportunity in home country.

For the context of teens or tens years ago, it might be the case. I have no idea what the current situation is like, when Indonesia is already regarded as one of 20 biggest economy in the world AKA G20 — even president Putin lately suggested Indonesia to joint G7 and then G7 become G8 accordingly.

I hope someday the abundant natural resources will go to the people with proper implementation as suggested in constitution.

Big companies whether local or overseas still act as if Indonesia was theirs.

Yet nevertheless, I must admit that people’s welfare is getting better and better.

PS:

Her YouTube channel is Mboke Memey (Javanese, meaning “Memey’s Mom”) . The language is mostly English. Some subscribers said : this channel is a mood booster. Yeah, agree. It’s the show of Genevieve, besides Markhatin. Laugh is everywhere. The cute Genevieve is the mascot of this channel. Or I should say: both Genevieve and Markhatin have their own typical roles. 👌😎

Xanana Gusmao and Najwa Shihab: Like Father and Daughter

Najwa Shihab, probably the Indonesia’s most well-known journalist, visited Timor Leste — ex Indonesia’s province — to make coverage of the inauguration of Timor Leste’s newly elected president Ramos Horta as well as the coming Timor Leste’s independence day on behalf of Trans TV in which she hosts a talk show named “Mata Najwa” (=Najwa’s Eyes)

She got welcomed by Xanana Gusmao, ex Timor Leste’s president as well as Timor’s independence fighter before. He put on Najwa with a traditional scarf.
Look, the legendary warrior kisses a woman’s hand. Can you imagine how strong a woman is? 🙂
Actually they were old friends when Najwa still worked at Metro TV as a journalist interviewing Xanana.
Najwa asked why the young Xanana looked ‘normal’, not scared, even smiled and laughed as if everything had been alright, while he was being captured and arrested by Indonesian soldiers.
with not so perfect Bahasa Indonesia he replied:
“because I met Indonesian soldiers on the battle”
“the first Indonesian I met was the one whom we shot and captured, because he could not run away”
“and he was ill , then I became his ‘doctor’ “
“so, you took care of your enemy?”
“if someone had no gun anymore and he is in misery, then he is not an enemy”
“he is human being!”
“human being — not enemy”

Let’s dance~

Last but not least:

Tribute for Xanana Gusmao 👍😎

Stop Anti Indonesia! 😅

Abraham commanded his sons from his wives other than Sarah — i.e. sons of Hagar and Ketura — to move to the EAST.

Where is the east actually?

In the middle east, especially Arabic people, east means “mashriq” i.e. the position of sunrise. Is it really Indonesia?

Let’s check out the characteristic of, at least Ishmael sons, with correct Bible translation that is especially stated in Saptuagint Bible.

Sweet Papua

Papua is situated on the easternmost of Indonesia.

We actually are as excited as foreigners to see Papua’s daily life even though just through videos. And besides Papua, there are much more places in Indonesia that amazes even Indonesians.

Indonesia is too diverse, and one thing for sure: the whole world must be amazing as well, because we haven’t seen them yet. And I guess this point is the heart of so called ‘tourism’.

It Reads “Indonesia Needs to Learn”

A lot of things overseas — from the West, Korea, Japan, Cina, Middle East, Africa, Neighboring Countries etc. — have given enlightenments to certain habits in home country to fix.

I agree, taking photo of (dead) victims is not a proper thing to do.
